October 17^th - November 13^th México Lindo Mercado y Galería de Artesanías will present installations of two Ofrendas, or altars, to commemorate the Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos. CAN IMMIGRANTS VOTE?

HOW DO I KNOW WHERE TO VOTE?
Each neighborhood has its own voting facility. To find out where you need to go to vote, call

DO I NEED TO PRESENT MY ID TO VOTE?
In some states you are required to show federally-issued photo identification (ID) document, such as your driver's license, state ID, or passport. In other states you need to show a document with your name and address, such as a utility bill, a bank statement, a payroll stub, or a check or government document, unless it is the first time you are voting and you registered by mail. (When somebody registers you at a fair or in front of a supermarket, it is considered registering b y mail.) To check your state s ID requirements, call 1-888-Ve-Y-Vota. If you are denied your vote after showing your identification, report it to 1-888-Ve-Y-Vota.

CAN I GET HELP TO FILL OUT MY BALLOT IF I DON'T UNDERSTAND ENGLISH WELL?  If you need assistance in reading or filling out your ballot, you have the right to bring somebody with you (as long as it is not your employer or a Trade Union leader) or to ask one of the officials at the voting location for assistance. More over, in some parts of the country, the government requires voting facilities to provide materials in Spanish, among other languages. To find out if there will be Spanish materials at your voting facility, call 1-888-Ve-Y-Vota.

IF I MAKE A MISTAKE FILLING OUT THE BALLOT, CAN I GET A NEW ONE?
If you make a mistake on your ballot, you have the right to ask for a new one. If you are not given a new ballot, report it to 1-888-Ve-Y-Vota.

IF I AM IN LINE TO VOTE WHEN THE POLLS CLOSE, CAN I STILL VOTE?

WHAT DO I DO IF I AM REGISTERED TO VOTE AND I AM NOT ALLOWED TO?
The officials at the voting facility should offer you a provisional ballot until your problem is resolved. If you are not offered a provisional ballot, or if you are denied one when you ask for it, report it to 1-888-Ve-Y-Vota.

WHAT IS A PROVISIONAL BALLOT?
It is a conditional way of voting which allows the voter to cast a vote that will be counted after officials verify its eligibility. If you are denied a provisional ballot, encounter any problems in casting your vote, or witness any questionable incidents, report it to 1-888-Ve-Y-Vota.

To document incidents where an injustice has been committed against you or somebody at your voting location. Call 1- 888-Ve-Y-Vota (1-888-839- 8682) immediately to report the following incidents.
It is not right if:

·  Your vote is denied for being an immigrant.

·  You are not allowed to bring somebody to help you fill out the ballot.

·  You are not given a new ballot if you make a mistake on the first one you filled out.

·  Officials at your voting location make inappropriate comments to you or another voter.

·  You are not allowed to vote if you are in line when the polls close.

·  You are denied the right to vote for a reason you think is unfair.

·  You are not given a provisional ballot.

Viaje a Mexico a hacer negocios - Trade Mission to Mexico - March/Marzo 2007

La Agencia para el Desarrollo Internacional de los Estados Unidos (USAID) ha otorgado un grant al Centro de Desarrollo de la Pequena Empresa (SBDC) "Corporacion Chrysler" de la Universidad de Duquesne para incrementar negocios entre los Estados de Pennsylvania en EEUU y los Estados de Aguascalientes y Jalisco en Mexico.  Para lograr este fin, se otorgaran 4 becas de MBA a estudiantes mexicanos, un grupo de consultores mexicanos visitaran Pittsburgh en Febrero del 2007 por dos semanas.  Se estara buscando familias que quieran alojar a individuos de este grupo.  La mision comercial ira a Mexico en Marzo del 2007. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has selected the Duquesne University Chrysler Corporation Small Business Development Center (SBDC) as the recipient for the 3-year grant to increase trade between the States of Pennsylvania in the U.S. and the States of Aguascalientes and Jalisco in Mexico.  To achieve this goal, we will be given 4-full MBA scholarships to Mexican students, a group of SBDC business consultants will visit Pittsburgh in February 2007 for two weeks.  We will be looking for families who wish to host an individual from Mexico.  The trade mission will be going to Mexico in March 2007 and the following industries will be invited to participate: automotive, electronics, medical equipment, food technology and software/IT.
