Mision de LACU
Historia:
“We started as a Peruvian music and dance group that performed in various
settings. We realized that we had in our group members from other Latin American
countries and also from the U.S. Some members had Latin American ancestors but
were not in touch with their roots. We saw a need to formalize a cultural group,
a union. The Latin American Cultural Union (LACU) was formally founded in the
Fall of 1986. One of the most important motivations was to preserve our culture
with our children. We yearned to teach them to value their parent’s cultural
heritage. The creation of LACU led to a heightened awareness and an appreciation
for the diversity of the Latin American culture in the region.”
