Machete Kisumontao, a 6+piece Puerto Rican Rebel Rock and Riot Salsa band from Pittsburgh has performed in and around the city for the past seven years. They have energized guests at the Latin American Caribbean Festival repeatedly. They’ve used their musical and performance talents to help raise funds for legal aid to defend the protestors at the G-20 summit (No Log20); at a benefit concert at Your Inner Vagabond to raise funds for schools in Bangladesh; and at Go Tell It On the Mountain---a benefit for Climate Ground Zero. Machete’s unique sound has awed parents and children at the Pittsburgh International Children’s Festival and motivated audiences at Shadow Lounge and other clubs around the city. They are a versatile group who can adapt to any venue, either stripping down their big band sound to focus on African roots style songs or bringing in the horns on salsa and dance-style songs.
